U.S. U18 MNT roster released for Milk Cup
The U.S. U18 Men’s National Team departed for Europe on Monday, as the squad embarks on six-day camp prior to the start of the Milk Cup on July 29. The U.S. will face Mexico, Northern Ireland, and Denmark at the competition in Northern Ireland.
Javier Perez’s side also has a friendly scheduled for Thursday, July 25 in the buildup to the event.
Perez called in 18 players for the tournament, which includes six players born in 1996. The rest of the roster has 1995 birth years. It also heavily features players for the New York Red Bulls U18 squad, which recently won the Development Academy U18 National Championship, with five players hailing from the MLS academy.
Among the more surprising names on the list is Sunderland’s Lynden Gooch, who has been out of the national team picture for an extended period after initially receiving looks with the U15 Boys National Team a few years ago. Gooch has been with Sunderland for the past year.
Also making his debut with the U18 MNT is Andrija Novakovich who just enjoyed a convincing showing with the U17 MNT at the Niigata Tournament earlier this month. Novakovich impressed U.S. Soccer scouts this season with his play in the Development Academy while suiting up for Chicago Magic PSG U16.
