YNT Regional ID: Connecticut 2004/2005
U.S. Soccer hosted a Regional Identification Center in Connecticut last week. The regional events have been held all over the country over the last few months. U.S. Soccer is using these events to help identify the top players for each region in the 2004 through 2007 age groups. The one-day events consist of training and a game. The groups are usually separated with the 2004/2005 training in the afternoon and the younger group taking the field during the morning session.
U.S. Soccer Youth National Team head coach Gonzalo Segares led the training in Connecticut. Cris da Silva, Danny Cepero, Bryan Harkin, Sean Kenney, and Mario Prata were also on the staff at the event, which took place on April 21.
There were 32 players called into the 2004/2005 age group for the training in Portland with 19 of those players from the 2005 age group. New York City FC had the most players at the training with 10. New England Revolution had players called into the identification event.
