2 Youth National Team Members Join '17 Class

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames men's soccer team will welcome the additions of goalkeeper Brogan Engbers, a member of several Canadian Youth National teams, and defender Evan Godfrey, who has participated with the U.S. Youth National team, to their roster for the fall of 2017.
Engbers has represented his country of Canada as a member of several national teams. At 15 years old, the 5-11 goalkeeper was named to the 2015 Canadian CONCACAF U17 Championship qualifying team, which participated in Honduras. He also represented Canada at the Danone Nations Cup in Madrid Spain, finishing an impressive sixth out of 40 countries in 2011, and played in exhibition match against U23 AS Roma during their international tour in 2015. In addition, Engbers has been a Canadian Men's National Team EXCEL athlete on the U15/U16/U17/U18 teams and participated in international camps and friendlies in El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama.
A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Engbers has been a Toronto FC Academy member for the past six years and has been a regular United States League (USL) and Premiere Development League (PDL) call up for Toronto FC since 2015. Recently, he was selected to the Toronto FC roster in preparation for the prestigious 2017 Viareggio Cup in Italy, the first North American team ever invited, and part of its squad at the 2017 Dallas Cup. In addition, the goalkeeper was named an MLS Academy All-Star in 2014 and represented Toronto FC at the Generation Adidas showcase.
As the League 1 Ontario starter in 2016, Engbers posted a 0.90 goals against average. He has been an honors student throughout high school and appointed by Toronto FC to speak on behalf of all senior athletes at 2015 Academy Achievement Day.
Godfrey has represented the United States internationally as a member of the U14 National team. He was also selected a Developmental Academy All-American in 2014 by OWhentheyanks and trained in Italy with Alessandra, Prussia and Empoli.

The Millville, N.J., native has been a member of the Philadelphia Union Academy U16/U18 team since 2012. He has been called to train and play with the Bethlehem Steel of the USL. He also has participated in U.S. Market Training and Nike ID2 Selection.
