3 tips on increasing college exposure
Been wondering how you can get further exposure to college soccer coaches?
Don’t fret, TDS has you covered.
Our experienced staff put together a list of three tips on how you can garner more exposure in front of college coaches.
1. TDS Showcaseses – We run an elite recruiting event that has helped over 100 players earn a spot on a college soccer roster. At each combine, there are coaches from each of the three divisions of NCAA athletics as well as coaches from NAIA schools. The wide range of coaches is mutually beneficial as players learn about new perspective programs and coaches work with players they may not have seen before.
With the event capped at 150 players, there is an intimate environment for players and coaches to mingle. There is also a recruiting seminar during the Combine to help players learn more about the Dos and Don’ts of college soccer recruiting. Following the event, player evaluations are available on player profiles and articles are produced listing the best players from each combine, helping attendees gain national exposure.
2. College Camps – Obviously you can’t attend every college camp. Start by narrowing down a list of schools you are interested in attending and sign up for their camps. Alternatively if you’re not sure on what schools you are interested in yet, pick college camps that have other college coaches on staff. If you are going to pay $400+ to attend a camp you want to play in front of more than one college. Simply put, more colleges = more exposure.
3. Showcases – College coaches attend numerous showcases throughout the year, with Disney Soccer Showcase and Surf Cup (San Diego, California) being two of the biggest. If your team does not/cannot qualify for a showcase try and guest play in a team that is participating in a showcase. You are recruited as an individual so it doesn’t matter who you are playing for as long as the college coaches see you play. Don’t forget that you can (and should) email coaches of schools you are interested before any events to let them know who you are, who you will be playing for and what your schedule is.
