Box Score
Rindge, NH – Earlier this afternoon, the women's soccer team took on the Ravens of Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. After 90 minutes of scoreless action, the Panthers entered into their second straight overtime game but this time, came away with the win courtesy of Sarah Barone Stern's game winner in the 95th minute. The victory puts the Panthers record at 5-1-2, 3-1-2 NE-10 while Franklin Pierce moves to 3-4-2.
Despite outshooting the hosts 18-12 over the course of the game, the Ravens held the offensive upper hand in the first, managing seven shots compared to Adelphi's three. However, the tables turned in the second as the Panther's offense picked up the pace as shown by 12 shots, three of which were on the mark.
After 90 scoreless minutes, both squads regrouped and headed into overtime. It took just under five minutes of extra time before Barone Stern notched the game winner which was also her first collegiate goal. Setting the opportunity up and getting the assist was teammate Melissa Duarte who took a shot that was saved by Franklin Pierce's Katie Weldon, but Barone Stern was there to pick up the loose ball and put in the game winner.
Sam Whitney held strong throughout the 94:54 and made three saves. Samantha Lanza accounted for four of her team's 18 shots while Victoria Antonino and Aimee Goldstein each had three. The Panthers also led in corner attempts, 8-5.
