Alemann’s Late Score Pushes Orediggers Past No. 7 Northeastern State
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Senior Matthew Alemann broke a scoreless tie in the 85th minute and Colorado School of Mines men's soccer dealt NSCAA No. 7 Northeastern State a 1-0 setback Friday evening at DeLoache Field in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Set up by classmate Tannor Randle, Alemann delivered the first Mines (1-1) goal of the season – his first in the Silver-and-Blue – to the far post from the six-yard penalty square with 5:07 remaining in regulation.
Led by sophomore keeper Collin Hall, the Orediggers withstood a 21-shot attack by NSU (2-1). Hall secured his first collegiate shutout in frame with a career-best eight saves, the most since predecessor Colin Baker stopped 11 in a 1-1 double overtime draw versus the RiverHawks last September.
NSU outshot Mines 21-8, including 8-3 in shots on goal, and was plus-5 on corner tries (6-1).
Alemann shared the game-high with two looks on target, while juniors Richard Garvey and Ryan Leach each recorded two shots.
The men wrap up the weekend road trip at 12:30 p.m. Sunday against Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City.
