Blazers Drop Match To Cal State Northridge
TULSA, Okla. – The No. 18 UAB men’s soccer team (2-1) gave up two first half goals and fell to Cal State Northridge, 2-0, Friday night in Tulsa at the Holiday Inn Hurricane Classic.
“Disappointed to lose,” head coach Mike Getman said. “I thought we played well and controlled the first half. Giving up two goals on a long throw and a corner is not like us. Now we have 36 hours to prepare for the No. 3 team in the nation.”
The Matadors took an early 1-0 lead at the 12:24 mark and followed with the second goal 14 minutes later to take an early two-score advantage.
As a team the Blazers took five shots to the Matadors’ six.
The Green and Gold will return to action on Sunday at 12 p.m. with a tough matchup against No. 3 Virginia, who plays in game two of Friday night’s action in Tulsa.
