Blugolds Play to Scoreless Draw at St. Olaf
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) — Coming off a dramatic tie on Saturday against Augsburg (Minn.), the UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team battled to another tie with St. Olaf (Minn.) to remain unbeaten this season, with this one finishing 0-0 in two overtimes.
The Blugolds (2-0-2) held the shot advantage, finishing with 14 while St. Olaf finished with nine. The Oles did take 12 corner kicks, but they failed to capitalize on any of them. UW-Eau Claire had just two.
St. Olaf finished with six fouls and the Blugolds had four. Both teams also received a yellow card. Jackie Nailor (Fr.-Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) was carded for the Blugolds in the second overtime.
Nina Behrenbrinker (Sr.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) finished with four saves to earn the shutout, while improving to 2-0-2 this season.
The Blugolds return home for just the second time this season on Saturday. They will welcome Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) to Bollinger Field for a 2:30 p.m. game. It will also be faculty/staff appreciation day.
