Boldt And Da Silva Draw PL Weekly Honors
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army senior goalkeeper Winston Boldt and freshman forward Mario Da Silva each garnered Patriot League weekly honors on Monday. Boldt was recognized as the league’s Goalkeeper of the Week, while Da Silva was selected as the conference’s top rookie.
Boldt’s Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week nod is his first of the season and seventh of his career, while Da Silva earns his first conference accolade.
Boldt, who was also honored as the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week on Monday, made a combined 11 saves while not allowing a goal in two games last week. Three of Boldt’s nine saves against the Falcons came in the second overtime period.
After his two shutouts last week, Boldt moved into a tie with Lucas Rice (USMA ’93) for first in program history with 18 career shutouts.
A native of Parkland, Fla., Da Silva scored his first collegiate goal in Army’s 1-0 victory at Saint Joseph’s. His goal came in the 58th minute to break the scoreless tie. Da Silva drew his first career start in the Air Force game, appearing in 82 minutes of the double-overtime contest.
Army (1-1-1) is back in action on Wednesday, when the Black Knights face Binghamton on the road at 7 p.m.
