Bradley Bourgeois signs with Houston Dynamo
The Houston Dynamo announced today the club has signed defender Bradley Bourgeois as a Homegrown Player. Per club and league policy, terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
The Cypress, Texas, native joined the Dynamo Academy in 2009 with the U-16s and was named Dynamo Academy Players’ Player of the Year in 2011. The Cy-Fair High School graduate went on to become a four-year letterwinner at Tulsa University and was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. He was then named Tulsa’s Defensive Player of the Year for three consecutive years, culminating in the 2015 American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year while leading Tulsa to its second straight conference tournament championship. Bourgeois started all 81 games in his career with the Golden Hurricane, tallying seven goals and one assist while leading the defense to 25 shutouts.
“We are pleased to announce the addition of Bradley,” Dynamo vice president/general manager Matt Jordan said. “His development with our Academy has been a critical part of his success throughout his collegiate career. He’s a very hard working individual that is eager to improve and grow in our environment.”
Bourgeois quickly earned the captain’s armband with his Dynamo Academy teams while anchoring the defense. The center back also appeared in eight matches with the Dynamo Reserves in 2011 and 2012. Bourgeois is the eighth player from the Dynamo Academy to sign a professional contract with the Dynamo first team.
“We are very proud of Bradley and his continued development throughout his college career,” Dynamo director of youth development James Clarkson said. “He had an outstanding time in the Academy and is fulfilling all the potential we saw in him. This demonstrates the different paths Academy players have to become a professional.”
