Buccaneers Fall At Home To Spartans
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University men’s soccer team dropped a home match against the Spartans of Tampa University Wednesday night, 3-0.
The Bucs (3-6-0, 04-0 SSC) have dropped their last two contest after what collecting consecutive wins outside of conference play. The Spartans and Bucs faced off earlier this season with Barry coming away with the 1-0 victory.
Unfortunately, on this night the ball rolled the Spartans’ way and they were able to avenge the defeat just two weeks ago.
Tampa (6-3-1, 3-1-0 SSC) jumped ahead in the 11th minute on a Tyler Blackwood’s sixth goal of the season.
In the second half the Spartans snuck another goal past Buccaneer goalkeeper Edwin Jean off the foot of Joshua Freese for the game’s second goal. Roughly sixteen minutes later it was Blackwood, the Spartans leading scorer, who put the game out of reach with his second goal of the night.
The Bucs applied pressure on Tampa goalkeeper David Niepel, but were not able to break through, finishing the match with 14 total shots.
