Cardinals fall to Luther 5-0
Box Score | GameDay Preview
DECORAH, Iowa — Luther got goals from five different players, as the Norse handed the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team a 5-0 nonconference setback Wednesday evening.
The Norse scored two goals less than two minutes apart midway through the first half — the first by Erin Wilson and the second by Maggie Jasper — to take a 2-0 advantage into the halftime intermission.
And once Luther's offense got heated up, there was not slowing it down, as the Norse added second-half goals by Lydia Eager, Maggie Herrity and Kelsey Petersen to seal the victory.
Miranda Halling (Rochester, Minn.) finished with eight saves for the Cardinals, while Luther's Cydney Haaland stopped all seven SMU shots in recording the shutout.
The Cardinals (0-7-0 overall) are back in action on Saturday, when they return to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 1 p.m. game against Bethel in Arden Hills, Minn.
