Castain Named WAC Player of the Week
For the second straight week, a Fresno State women's soccer student-athlete was recognized by the Western Athletic Conference. Sophomore Morgan Castainearned WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after career performances this past weekend, the league announced Monday.
"She has done the work to put herself in this position," said Head Coach Brian Zwaschka. "She is starting to get more comfortable."
Castain scored three goals in two games for a total of six points.
She scored both of the Bulldogs' goals against UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 2) and made the go-ahead goal over Sacramento State (Sept. 4).
Castain finished the weekend with a .600 on goal shooting percentage.
She is currently tied for first on the team in total points with nine. In the WAC, she is tied for second in points (9), goals (4) and goals per game (0.67).
Fresno State (3-2-1) is gearing up for a four-game road trip that starts with No. 4 UCLA this Sunday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs will not return home until they face No. 24 Pepperdine on Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.
