CCSU Women's Soccer Falls to Boston College
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team moved to 3-10 on the season with its loss to Boston College on Wednesday night at the CCSU Soccer Field. The Blue Devils fell by a score of 7-0. Senior Nikola Deiter posted nine saves in the match followed in goal by freshman Nikki Turley who added four.
The teams displayed strong efforts on both sides of the ball for the first 13 minutes of the contest until the Eagles found their way behind the CCSU defense to post the first goal of the night, a header, in the 13th minute.
Shortly after the teams reset the field, BC's Stephanie McCaffrey found the back of the net again, just less than a minute after the Eagle's first to put Central down by two.
Boston College would score one more before the half's end to send the teams into the locker rooms with Central down by three.
Upon returning to the pitch for the second period, the Eagles posted four more goals to clinch the win.
The Blue Devils registered six shots in the match, two of which were off the foot of junior Tori Sousa and merely inched by the post.
In the second period, the Blue Devils made a goalie change, placing Turley between the posts for the second time this season. She tallied four saves and allowed two goals.
Central remains at home for its next contest as the Blue Devils take on the Red Flash of Saint Francis U. on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the CCSU Soccer Field. Fans can watch all the action live at www.NECFrontRow.com.
