The CCSU women's soccer team fell to Saint Francis (PA) (8-4-1, 5-0-0 NEC) on Friday afternoon by a score of 3-0 in Loretto, PA. With the defeat, Central's record drops to 1-10-1 (0-4-0 NEC).
Saint Francis, who as of Sept. 30 is tied for first place (with Monmouth) in the Northeast Conference, posted three shots in the first six minutes of the game, followed by another three by the 14th minute. The goal was the only score in the half and the teams entered the locker rooms with CCSU trailing 1-0.
The Blue Devils held strong for the first 20 minutes of the second period however, McKibben found the back of the net again in the 64th minute of play to put the Red Flash up 2-0. SFU added an insurance goal just under five minutes later to conclude scoring to the match.
The Red Flash ultimately out-shot the Blue Devils 20-8 and Deiter recorded six saves, compared to two by SFU goalie Brianna Butcher. Leading Central in shots was Welch with three followed by Kelley with two. Also shooting for the Blue Devils were freshmen Alysa Christo who posted one and Claire Walsh who registered one on goal.
