Centre women's season ends with 2-0 loss to Emory
One day after defeating Roanoke College in a shootout, the Centre College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to No. 6 Emory University in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday, Nov. 13 in Atlanta, Ga.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead 16:50 into the first half when Lidija Barauskas found the back of the net off an assist from Veronica Romero.
The score remained that way until the 57:15 mark in the second half when Merrill Bachouros scored her to make it 2-0. Romero and Charlotte Butker recorded an assist each.
Emory out-shot Centre 25-3 and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Kelli Lenz (Louisville, Ky.) took the loss in goal for the Colonels. Lenz made 13 saves in the match.
With the defeat, Centre's season comes to an end with a 14-5-3 overall record.
