Colgate Cools Off Saints
Defending Patriot League Champion Colgate lived up to the billing, shutting out Siena Women's Soccer 3-0 Thursday night in Hamilton, N.Y. The Raiders out-shot Siena 20-6 and held a 7-2 advantage in corners.
Taylor Booth made four saves for Siena (2-1) while Tara Sobierajski led the Saints with two shots including one on target.
Taryn Tomczyk paced Colgate (3-0) with a goal and an assist, while Sarah Coy and Sidney Parodie also added goals. Erin Cummings (two saves) and Emma Giegerich (one save) combined for the shutout in goal for the Raiders which have outscored their opponents 6-0 so far this season.
Following a busy start to the 2013 season which featured three games in six days, Siena will have eight days to rest up before its next match. The Saints host new Division I member UMass-Lowell Friday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. at Siena Field.
