Commodores Release 2019 Schedule
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt will host LSU, Tennessee and Texas A&M in SEC play as highlights of the 2019 soccer season, head coach Darren Ambrose announced on Thursday.
Last fall, the Commodores enjoyed their most successful season in 25 years, winning the SEC regular season championship and finishing ranked 16th in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
Their 16 wins were also good for the third-most in Vanderbilt history.
Vanderbilt's 18-game slate in 2019 begins at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex when Georgia State visits (Aug. 22). Vanderbilt squared off with Georgia State in 2018, resulting in a 3-0 victory on the road. A home game against Evansville (Aug. 25) will follow the matchup with Georgia State.
After beginning the season at home, Vanderbilt will take a trip out west to face UC Irvine (Aug. 30) and Pepperdine (Sept. 1).
The Commodores will later host the third straight Music City Invitational, which the program won last season. Vanderbilt will host Colgate (Sept. 6) and Marshall (Sept. 8) in the bracket.
A home matchup with UT Chattanooga (Sept. 12) will be followed by an away match against Louisville (Sept. 15) to conclude the nonconference schedule.
Vanderbilt will kick off SEC play against Tennessee (Sept. 22), Florida (Sept. 29), Missouri (Oct. 10), LSU (Oct. 18) and Texas A&M (Oct. 24).
LSU, Tennessee and Texas A&M all finished the 2018 season ranked, with Tennessee finishing at No. 7, Texas A&M at No. 13 and LSU at No. 18.
The Commodores will close the season with matchup against Arkansas (Sept. 26), Georgia (Oct. 4), South Carolina (Oct. 13), Kentucky (Oct. 27) and Alabama (Oct. 31).
South Carolina finished the 2018 season ranked one spot behind Vanderbilt at No. 17.
Six teams on Vanderbilt's 2019 schedule made the 2018 Women's College Cup Tournament in Arkansas, Louisville, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
Following the conference slate, the SEC Tournament (Nov. 4-10) in Orange Beach, Alabama.
