Cowgirls Fall 2-1 at Morehead State
MOREHEAD, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2014) – Senior forward Kasey Curtis found the back of the net in the 57th minute, but the University of Wyoming women’s soccer team fell at Morehead State 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Jayne Stadium. Curtis has a team high-three goals this season.
“I thought we played with a lot of energy in the second half and aggressive,” UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. “It was tough to lose the game on a penalty kick.”
In a tightly-contested match, the Eagles earned slight 8-7 advantage in shots, 3-2 shots on goal and 4-3 in corner kicks. Curtis and sophomore forward Laurel Ramer each had two shots, while senior forward Hayley Charlton had UW’s other shot on goal.
The Eagles scored at the 41st minute for a 1-0 lead at half time and added a second goal in the 47th minute on a penalty kick. The Cowgirls got on the scoreboard in the 58th minute, as Curtis teamed with senior defender Alison Clarke for the goal.
Wyoming concludes its six-game road series at Northern Colorado on Friday at 7 p.m. MT.
