Cyclones Earn Road Victory At Immaculata
IMMACULATA, Pa. – Freshman Luis Marin (Union City, N.J./Union Hill) scored the match's lone goal as Centenary College claimed a 1-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer triumph at Immaculata on Thursday night.
The Cyclones won their second-straight match, improving to 2-1 in league play (5-5-2 overall), while the Mighty Macs fell for the fourth consecutive outing.
Centenary pressured offensively in the Immaculata end of the field for much of the night, putting up 19 shots, including nine on goal. The Cyclones also recorded seven of the match's nine corner kicks.
Immaculata goalkeeper Joseph Lubonski held Centenary off the scoreboard until the 72nd minute when Marin netted his third goal of the fall. Two of his scores have been game winners.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jesse Goleman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) tallied his third shutout, blocking all five shots he faced, while Lubonski finished the night with eight saves. Marin was one of three Cyclones with two shots on goal, joining his brother Michael Marin (Union City, N.J./Union City) and senior Antonio Cabrera (Pasadena, Texas/Pasadena Memorial).
Centenary plays four of its next five matches in Hackettstown beginning on Saturday with a contest against Cabrini (Noon).
