Cyclones Fall To Cabrini On Senior Day
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary College women's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Cabrini in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Morrison Field.
The Cyclones dropped to 5-3-1 in league play (5-8-2 overall), while the Cavaliers maintained their hold on second place in the conference standings, upping their CSAC mark to 6-1-2.
Cabrini netted one goal during each half and received five saves from goalkeeper Melissa Jenkins, who kept Centenary off the scoreboard.
The Cavaliers took the lead in the ninth minute when Melissa Scanzano took a lead pass from Gabby Heck and shot it over junior net minder Megan Williams (Glenside, Pa./Abington) and into the back of the net. Bree Thompson capped the scoring in the 54th minute with an insurance tally.
Williams made five saves for the Cyclones, while juniors Cara Holmes (Pittstown, N.J./North Hunterdon) and Laura Potter (Gilboa, N.Y./Gilboa-Conesville) both registered two shots on goal.
Prior to Saturday's match, the team honored its three seniors, Kristen Brown (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson), Kelley Carvalho (Roselle, N.J./Roselle Catholic) and Amira Guerrero (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee).
Centenary plays its final home regular-season match on Saturday, October 26 against Immaculata at 12:00 pm.
