DAYTON'S WATERS EARNS A-10 POTW FOR 3RD TIME
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton's Nicole Waters and Richmond's Meaghan Carrigan have been named Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday. The awards are for games played Oct. 20-26.
This marks the third time this season that Waters has been named the A-10 Player of the Week (also named Aug. 25 and Sept. 2).
In the Flyers' lone match of the week, Waters scored a pair of goals and added two assists in a 4-3 double-overtime win against Richmond. The Terra Cotta, Ontario, native assisted on Dayton's first goal of the game, a chip shot from teammate Ashley Campbell, before knotting the game at three early in the second half. In the second overtime period, the junior midfielder landed a penalty kick for the game winner in the 105th minute, for a total of five points. Waters now has eight goals and 13 assists this season and 32 career assists, which moves her to third all-time at Dayton.
UD plays at George Washington on Friday, Oct. 31 at 3 p.m., followed by the last regular season match of the season on Sunday, Nov. 2 vs. VCU at Baujan Field at 12 p.m.
