Delaware Shutout by Loyola, 1-0
BALTIMORE, Md. – The University of Delaware women’s soccer team was shutout by Loyola University, 1-0, in non-conference action Friday night at Loyola’s Ridley Athletic Complex.
Despite out shooting the Loyola (2-1-2), 15-6, Delaware (1-3) registered its third non-conference set back of the season.
The Greyhounds took a 1-0 advantage at the 19:13 mark of the first half when Charlotte Miller posted her first goal of the season after she the stole the ball from a Delaware defender and knocked into the left side of UD’s net.
Delaware Blue Hens goalkeeper Jess Levy recorded one save in the first half of action while replacement Jess Figuero did not see a shot in the final 45 minutes of the second half. Ali Miller led the Blue Hens with four shots, including three on goal. Andrea Arnold, Chelsea Duffy and Shannon Kearney each tallied a shot on goal.
Loyola’s Didi Haracic registered six saves as the Greyhounds goalkeeper was perfect in the shutout victory. The quartet of Kelsey Donohue, Rosy Hayes, Tessa McClenahan and Miller each registered a shot in the victory.
The Blue Hens complete their weekend road trip with a battle with in-state rival, Delaware State University Hornets, on Sunday, September 9 at 1 p.m. at DSU’s Alumni Stadium.
Delaware returns home on Friday, September 14 at 7 p.m. when the Blue Hens host Saint Joseph’s University Hawks at 7 p.m. at Delaware Mini Stadium.
