Denver Falls to Colorado College, 1-0

<p><span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;"><strong>GREELEY, Colo.</strong> -The University of Denver women's soccer team lost the opening match of the Colorado Cup against Colorado College by a count of 1-0 on Friday evening at Jackson Stadium.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;">"You never like to drop the first game of the season," head coach <strong><a class="biolink" href="http://www.denverpioneers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=10863&ATCLID=1152920&DB_OEM_ID=18600" data-bitly-type="bitly_hover_card">Jeff Hooker</a> </strong>said. "I felt that in the first half they came out and took it to us and beat us in every aspect of the game. They did a lot of good things to give us problems in the first half. In the second half, I thought that we played much better. We created a lot of opportunities and had much more possession of the ball."</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;">Lynn Froetscher tallied the CC goal in the 62nd minute, after goalkeeper </span><strong style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;"><a class="biolink" href="http://www.denverpioneers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=10863&ATCLID=3753449&DB_OEM_ID=18600" data-bitly-type="bitly_hover_card">Lara Campbell</a></strong><span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;">(Anchorage, Alaska) had to punch a ball out of her own six-yard box. Froetscher kicked the rebound in on her first touch for the breakthrough. Campbell kept the Pioneers in the game, coming up with six saves in the match.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;">The Tigers (1-0) held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks and a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;">Junior defender <strong><a class="biolink" href="http://www.denverpioneers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=10863&ATCLID=204893913&DB_OEM_ID=18600" data-bitly-type="bitly_hover_card">Jessy Battelli</a></strong> (Golden, Colo.) had a try in the 66th minute, a header off a corner that sailed just over the crossbar. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;">Junior midfielder <strong><a class="biolink" href="http://www.denverpioneers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=10863&ATCLID=204968527&DB_OEM_ID=18600" data-bitly-type="bitly_hover_card">Nicholette DiGiacomo</a> </strong>(Golden, Colo.) had three shots on goal in the match.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva; font-size: small;">Denver (0-1) will conclude the Colorado Cup with a match against Northern Colorado in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Sunday at 1 p.m. MT.</span></p>
