Djabi and Summers earn All-Tournament honors
CONWAY, Ark. – Omar Djabi and Ethan Summers connected on the game-winning goal of the Bisons first win of the season. Monday evening, they connected again. The two Lipscomb men’s soccer players were named to the Central Arkansas Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Djabi, a sophomore defender, scored the game winning goal for Lipscomb on Saturday against UCA. Djabi attempted four shots over the two games, placing two on target in 176 of a possible 180 minutes of action.
Summers, a senior defender, had the assist on Djabi’s goal. Summers played a perfect ball from midfield to Djabi who was streaking on the right side of the field to help lift the Bisons to victory. Summers also helped anchor the defensive line that gave up just one goal over the two games and held Missouri State to just five shots on Monday.
Joining them on the team were Oral Roberts teammates Tyler Hill and Trevor Lafoon, Missouri State teammates Jack Roberts and Andrew Turner, and Central Arkansas teammates Zac Burns and Taylor Hart. James Fawke of Missouri State was named the defensive MVP while Mickey Segura of Central Arkansas was named offensive MVP.
The Bisons host their own tournament, the Hyatt Place Select Lipscomb Invitational, starting Friday with Belmont battling Oral Roberts at 5 p.m. followed by the host Bisons competing against Elon at 7:30 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
