Dorado Earns Fourth MAAC Weekly Honor
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women’s Soccer sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Dorado has set a new program single-season record by being named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this fall. The local standout from nearby Guilderland, New York led the Saints to a 1-0 road shutout in Wednesday’s regular season finale at Rider.
Dorado becomes the first student athlete in Siena Women’s Soccer history to earn four MAAC weekly honors in a single-season. The previous program single-season record of three MAAC weekly honors had been achieved seven times prior to Dorado’s superlative fall. Dorado’s four MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors is also just one shy of the program career record of five established by Laura Ettinger ’12.
Dorado recorded her sixth shutout of the season in Wednesday’s 1-0 road triumph over the Broncs which ultimately clinched the Saints a First Round bye in the upcoming MAAC Tournament. Dorado recorded her third double-digit save effort this fall in making 11 stops to stifle Rider which held a decided 19-5 advantage in shots.
Dorado wrapped up a stellar regular season in which she led the MAAC in save percentage (.843), and ranked third in both saves (91) and shutouts (six), and fifth in goals against average (1.02).
Winners of six of their final seven regular season contests, Dorado and the Saints will begin their quest for the program’s third MAAC Championship this weekend at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Seeded fourth, Siena will open against fifth seeded Marist in the MAAC Quarterfinals Sunday at 2 p.m.
