LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women’s Soccer has claimed two of the MAAC’s three weekly honors for the Week of Oct. 15. Junior goalkeeper Taylor Dorado has repeated as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman striker Ashleigh Sarafin earns MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Dorado earns her seventh career MAAC Defensive Player of the Week award, third this season, and second straight. The junior previously set a new program record last week with her sixth career weekly honor. Dorado and Sarafin led Siena to a 4-0 road win at Saint Peter’s Wednesday, and a 1-0 triumph over Rider Saturday.

Dorado recorded shutouts in both matches last week while totaling eight saves. She made two stops in the victory at Saint Peter’s, and added six saves Saturday vs. the Broncs. The Guilderland, New York native has tied an individual program record with four consecutive shutouts (Taylor Booth – 2013, Liz Rogan – 2015), having not allowed a goal over the last 421:01. Overall, she has registered clean sheets in five of her past six matches, and moved into a tie for second place in program history with Laura Ettinger ’12 with her 18^th career shutout Saturday.

Dorado currently ranks second in the MAAC and 13^th nationally with 88 saves, and stands third in the league in both goals against average (0.83) and save percentage (.871 – 18^th nationally). She has bequeathed just one total goal over the Saints’ first seven league matches spanning 670:26, while posting a remarkable 0.13 goals against average and .979 save percentage in conference play.

Sarafin led Siena offensively last week with four points, as she scored in each match. On Wednesday, the Landing, New Jersey native finished a 30-yard blast for the Saints’ second of four goals against the Peacocks, before scoring the decisive goal Saturday vs. Rider for her first collegiate game-winner. Sarafin is currently tied for the team lead with three goals, and is tied for second in scoring with seven points.

Dorado, Sarafin and the Saints return to action Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. showdown at 1-87 rival Marist. The Red Foxes will enter the match second in the current MAAC Standings, while Siena sits just a point back in third.
