Dorado Snags Fourth MAAC Weekly Honor
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women’s Soccer junior goalkeeper Taylor Dorado has earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Week acclaim for the fourth time this season. The Guilderland, New York standout was honored for her shutout performance in Wednesday’s regular season-ending 1-0 road win at Canisius.
Dorado receives MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the eighth time in her career, including the third time in the past four weeks. Siena has now boasted the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for four consecutive weeks, as Kamryn Peffley received recognition last week.
Dorado tied both the program career (19) and single-season (eight) records for shutouts in the victory over the Golden Griffins, which clinched the Saints the No. 3 seed in the MAAC Tournament. She made three saves, including a pair of clutch back-to-back sprawling stops on a penalty kick and the ensuing rebound in the 48th minute, to help Siena secure its first home MAAC Tournament match in a decade.
Following yesterday’s 2-1 MAAC Quarterfinals overtime victory over Quinnipiac, Dorado now ranks second in the MAAC in shutouts, saves (100 – 18th nationally), and save percentage (.862 – 23rd nationally), and third in goals against average (0.85).
Dorado and the Saints continue their quest for the program’s third MAAC Championship when they battle No. 2 seed Marist in the semifinals Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Poughkeepsie.
