DUKE DEFEATS SOCCER MONARCHS 4-2 IN FINAL EXHIBITION MATCH

 

DURHAM, NC—The Duke Blue Devils defeated the ODU Soccer Monarchs Friday night, 4-2 in the final

exhibition match for both teams.

 

Senior All-Conference forward Tim Hopkinson (Nottingham, England) and sophomore Ryan Condotta (Keller, TX.) scored the Monarchs two goals.  Hopkinson’s strike from 18 yards out put ODUup 1-0 and after Dukes Luis Rendon tied the match at 1-1, Condotta came right back with a goal off a rebound shot to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead.

 

The Blue Devils got goals from Seio-in Kim, and Sean Davis to take a 3-2 halftime lead and Brody Huitema finished the scoring with an early second half goal for the 4-2 final.

 

The Monarchs finished the exhibition season with a 2-1 record (wins over nationally ranked Georgetown and Coastal Carolina) and begin regular season play on Friday, Aug. 30 against High Point in the VCU Soccer Tournament.
