Boston College improved to 3-0-1 with a 2-0 victory over non-conference foe Boston University, on Sunday night at Nickerson Field. BC is now 3-0-1 while Boston University is now 0-4-0 on the season.
TURNING POINT
Junior Lauren Berman scored her second goal of the season in the 14th minute of the game to give BC an early lead against BU.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Berman gave BC an early lead on a header just over the Terriers GK hands in the 14th minute. Berman was set up in the box on a cross from the right of the keeper from freshman Jade Ruiters.
- Senior McKenzie Meehan made it 2-0 BC with just under 18 minutes to play in the first half. The Eagles had a set piece from 35 yards out. Freshman Samantha Hiatt placed the ball to the right of the goalkeeper in the box. Meehan placed the header into the far post for her third goal of the season.
- Boston College had five shots on goal in the first half. The Eagles defense held the Terriers to just one shot on goal.
- Freshman Kayla Jennings put BC head, 3-0, in the 60th minute. The play began off a cross from Gaby Carreirointo the box. Hayley Dowd's shot went off the post and Jennings was there to head the ball into the goal for her third goal of the season.
GAME NOTES
- Senior McKenzie Meehan scored her 49th career goal in the first half. Meehan now has 104 career points.
- Eagles sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Bryant earned the win and is now 2-0-1.
- BC had the edge in corners, 9-5.
- The Eagles had 10 shots on goal, while Boston University was held to one shot. Hayley Dowd led the offense with six shots, while Meehan had four.
- BC has won six of the last eight games (6-1-1) against Boston University. The Eagles lead the overall series since 1996, 15-5-1.
