Eimantas Lotuzys Named MAAC ROTW
EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its men's soccer weekly awards on Monday afternoon. Freshman Eimantas Lotuzys was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week after a three-point performance, including the game-winning goal, in the Gaels' 3-1 victory over Vermont last week.
The Vilnius, Lithuania native played just 32 minutes off of the bench for the Maroon & Gold, but he made them count. Lotuzys scored his first collegiate goal to give Iona a 2-1 lead late in the first half. He would also add an assist on Lenworth Lopez's 77th minute goal that put the Catamounts away. The rookie finished the night with three shots, two of which were on goal.
Lotuzys is the first Iona freshman to earn the honor since Mauro Bravo in September of last season.
Iona's 2019 campaign continues when they face St. John's Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. The match will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
