Falcons Finish a Perfect 10-0 in GNAC Play
Jamal Howard (West Haven, Conn.) tallied his second hat trick of the season as he led the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team over Lasell 6-0 in GNAC action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Albertus improves to 14-2-1 on the year. The Falcons finish the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record in league play to earn recognition as the 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions.
Howard scored his 17th goal of the season in the 15th minute to take over sole possession as the Albertus Magnus all-time points leader in men's soccer history.
Howard entered the contest tied for first place with Jay Hunter (1992-95) as they both had 105 points, a tally that Howard secured in Saturday's (Oct. 15) 3-0 win over Emmanuel.
With three goals in today's match, Howard surpassed Vic Crespo's single-season record of 18 goals. Howard now has 19 on the year.
Stephen Zapata (Hamden, Conn.), the Division III leader in assists with 19 on the year, scored one goal and tallied three assists in the shutout victory. Zapata now has 36 assists in his career.

Nick Hamasian (Hamden, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal in the fifth minute as he headed the ball off of a Zapata corner to give the Falcons' an early 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Zapata scored his own goal as he drilled a free kick into the back of the net to extend his team's lead to two.
Howard scored three consecutive goals, two of which were assisted by Zapata. The senior scored in the 15th, 27th and 37th minutes to secure the Falcons' 13th win in their last 14 games.
Dan Dwyer (Hamden, Conn.) scored the Falcons' final goal of the contest in the 86th minute as Josue Galo (New Haven, Conn.) played the ball to the sophomore who found the back of the net for the third time this season.
Albertus outshot the Lasers 23-12 and held Lasell to just four shots in the second half. Lasell's Aren Moorman took the loss as he only played the first half. He made one save and allowed five of the Falcons' six goals. Lasell fell to 9-4-3 with the loss, while moving to 5-3-2 in league play.
