FDU Posts 1-0 Shutout Over LIU Brooklyn
TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men’s soccer team picked up a much-needed three points in the Northeast Conference standings after posting a 1-0 shutout over LIU Brooklyn Sunday at University Stadium. With the victory, the Knights improve to 8-6-1 (1-2-1 NEC), while the Blackbirds fall to 5-8-2 (2-2-1 NEC) overall.
The difference in the contest came in the early seconds of the 63rd minute, as a streaking Nico Wright down the right side delivered a perfect cross to sophomore Simon Doherty, who found the back of the net for his third goal of the season.
FDU dominated possession all game long en route to holding a 19-2 advantage in shots, including 11-0 over the opening 45 minutes.
Senior goalkeeper Jacob Lissek picked up his fifth clean sheet on the year and was tested only once.
The Knights will return to action Friday, Nov. 1 when they host St. Francis Brooklyn in a pivotal NEC contest. Seven seniors will be honored before the 7 p.m. game, as they will be playing their final home game at University Stadium.
