FELICIAN EDGES WILMINGTON MEN, 2-1 IN DOUBLE OT
Felician College dealt Wilmington University a 2-1, double-overtime loss in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men’s soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.
After a scoreless first half, the Golden Falcons were the first to get on the board, as Daniel Camargo ripped a shot that deflected off a Wildcat defender into the back of the net. That goal, which came during the 85th minute, gave the visitors a 1-0 lead. Wilmington would not go down without a fight, and sophomore Tom Quaranta netted the equalizer just three minutes later to tie the game at one. Quaranta received a through pass from junior Ray Kuemmer just inside the 18 yard box, and tied the game at one.
Neither team scored in the first overtime period and it wasn’t until the 109th minute when Felician scored the game-winner. Keleena Onyeaka gave the Golden Falcons a huge win, as he scored off a free kick from Camargo.
John Allen had two saves in goal for Wilmington (6-2-2 CACC/7-6-4), while Anthony Tsouhnikas turned away four shots for Felician (4-5 CACC/7-7). The Wildcats had a slight edge in shots, 18-17, and held a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The ‘Cats close out their regular season on Saturday afternoon when they play host to the Cougars of Caldwell College in CACC action. Game time is slated for 2:30 PM.
