Five intriguing men’s soccer storylines
The men’s season is humming through September, which means more opportunity to apply the microscope to some of the advancing season’s most interesting stories. Five of note so far.
Washington wins battle of the Huskies
The post-Pac-12 championship honeymoon ended pretty quickly for Washington. The Huskies shot out to a 2-0 record, but a shocking 2-1 overtime loss to unheralded St. Mary’s (CA)(m) at home on Sept. 7 provided a unwelcome jolt. The next opportunity for redemption came in the form of a battle with No. 23 Connecticut on Friday, and Washington didn’t waste the opportunity. A 4-1 win that was every bit as comprehensive as the scoreline suggested was just what the doctor ordered. Another 4-1 win against Penn followed two days later.
