Five men's Player of the Year dark horses
You know about the Adam Najems and Abu Danladis of the world. These are the Division I men’s Player of the Year candidates you perhaps haven’t heard quite so much about.
There aren’t usually very many surprises in the POTY selection. It typically goes to a forward at a major program (helps to be on the East Coast, historically) that’s probably made a deep run in the NCAA tourney. Put all three of those things together and you’ve got the winners in four of the last five years. But what about the players who are perhaps a bit off the radar who deserve some love? Those players putting together mammoth years who could - or at least should - muscle into the discussion come December?
These are five of those players who could crash the party.
