Five Things: Badger revival, FSU favorites?
Crunch time is here in the women’s soccer season, as October losses can trigger the end of postseason hopes for teams living on the bubble. Or, big wins can keep alive conference title dreams as the fierce competition continues.
Below are five things to know from last week’s action.
1. Wisconsin continues Big Ten hot streak
Back on Sept. 17, a 4-0 loss on the road at Penn State had the Badgers reeling to a 3-4-2 record, with the Big Ten title a pipe dream and serious concerns about their NCAA tournament prospects.
However, the Badgers roared to life from that date, and have rattled off five straight wins, going unbeaten in six overall. During that stretch, they haven’t conceded a goal and are now in position to redeem their postseason hopes, even if their RPI still checks them in at No. 48. They still aren’t safe, but with matches against Michigan and Michigan State at home on the horizon, extending the streak to the weekend would certainly solidify things.
