The opening weekend of the women’s college soccer season provided plenty: high-scoring action, overtime winners and some extremely close matchups.

One of the weekend’s surprises was South Carolina’s 1-0 win against visiting Duke. The Gamecocks managed to hold on to the one-goal lead thanks to Danielle Au’s first-half tally. Backstopping the win and picking up two shutouts over the weekend was Sabrina D'Angelo, who landed a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer.com team of the week.

Picking up the first TopDrawerSoccer.com Player of the Week honor in the 2013 season is Florida forward Savannah Jordan. Making her collegiate debut, the freshman from Fayetteville, Ga. scored five goals, leading the Gators to 3-1 wins over Florida Gulf Coast(w) and Oregon State respectively.
