FLYERS BOUNCE BACK WITH 2-1 WIN OVER FORDHAM
BRONX, N.Y. – Junior Colleen Williams and sophomore Juliana Libertin scored second half goals to lead the University of Dayton women’s soccer team to a comeback 2-1 Atlantic 10 win over Fordham Sunday.
The Flyers (11-2-0, 2-1-0 A-10) started the second half down 1-0 after Fordham’s Annie Worden scored in the 23rd minute. The Rams drop to 7-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in A-10 play.
Williams scored the equalizer, her eighth goal of the season, in the 53rd minute on a cross from junior Alexis Garcia.
Libertin scored the game-winning goal on a header in the 82nd minute with the assist coming from senior Kelsey Owen. It was Libertin’s fifth goal of the season and third game winner.
Dayton had 18 shots to Fordham’s 10.
UD was coming off a tough 2-1 overtime loss to La Salle Friday, Oct. 7. Dayton preserved a long-standing record. Since joining the A-10 in 1995, the Flyers have never suffered back-to-back losses in regular season conference play.
The Flyers continue their road swing at George Washington (Friday, Oct. 14) and at Richmond (Sunday, Oct. 16).
