FLYERS DEFEAT UMASS 3-1 ON THE ROAD
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Dayton women's soccer team (10-9-0, 8-2-0 A-10) closed out the 2015 regular season with a 3-1 victory at Massachusetts (6-8-4, 3-5-2 A-10) Sunday at Rudd Field. With the win, the Flyers clinched the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship which starts Nov. 5 and will be hosted by Davidson College.
STATS OF THE MATCH
• Seniors Nicole Waters (2 goals, 1 assist) and Ashley Campbell (1 goal, 1 assist) combined for all of Dayton's points.
• Dayton outshot UMass 20-12. Waters and Campbell each took a game-high seven shots for UD.
• Freshman goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns had five saves in goal for the Flyers.
• Waters now has 17 assists this year, one away from UD's single season record, which Waters owns. She also has 54 career assists and is Dayton's all-time leader.
DAYTON GOALS
• 21st minute – Waters scored on a penalty kick. (Dayton 1, Massachusetts 0)
• 36th minute – Waters scored her sixth goal of the season on a cross from Ashley Campbell. It turned out to be the game-winning goal. (Dayton 2, Massachusetts 0)
• 85th minute –Campbell heads the ball in after a cross in from Waters. (Dayton 3, Massachusetts 1)
MASSACHUSETTS GOAL
• 47th minute – The Minutewomen came out of halftime quick as Erin Doster scored after an assist from Breanna Robinson. (Dayton 2, Massachusetts 1)
