FLYERS SHUT DOWN DUQUESNE 4-0

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women’s soccer team (12-4-0, 6-1-0 A-10) posted its fourth consecutive shutout in Atlantic 10 action with its 4-0 win over Duquesne (6-9-2, 2-4-1 A-10) Sunday at Baujan Field.
Senior Alysha Mallon tallied the game-winning goal, bending her corner kick in the 30th minute to the back of the net.
Right before the half, junior Juliana Libertin scored her 11th goal of the season in the 44th minute. Junior Steph Emery got the play started with a chip into the box, freshman Ashley Campbell took a shot that the keeper couldn’t control and Libertin was there to clean up with a low shot to the back of the net.
Senior Colleen Williams set up Campbell for the third goal of the game, and the 11th of her rookie season in the 70th minute of the match.
Williams rounded out the scoring on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute; awarded after Campbell was taken down in the box.
The Flyers turned in a dominating performance with 36 shots to Duquesne’s 7. UD also had a 12-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Junior Jordin Melchert had three saves in goal for the Flyers and her record improves to 11-2-0.
Dayton hosts Richmond this Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Baujan Field on Senior Night. Flyer seniors Katherine Boone, Alexis Garcia, Alysha Mallon and Colleen Williams will be recognized prior to the match.
