FLYERS WIN 3-1 OVER HARVARD
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Dayton women’s soccer team downed Harvard 3-1 Friday night in a lightning-delayed non-conference battle. UD improved to 4-3-0, and dealt the Crimson (1-1-1) their first loss of the season.
Senior Colleen Williams scored the first goal of the match in the 12th minute on a penalty kick. It ended up being the lone goal of the first half. It was her fifth of the season.
Junior Juliana Libertin notched a goal to put the Flyers up 2-0 in the 56th minute. It proved to be the game winner. Freshman Nicole Waters tallied the assist.
Waters also scored a goal in the 75th minute and junior Steph Emery had the assist to give Dayton a 3-1 lead.
Junior Jordin Melchert had eight saves in goal for the Flyers.
Over the last two seasons, Harvard owns a 10-2-1 record at home. The Flyers and Hofstra are the only teams to beat the Crimson on their home field during that time.
Dayton plays at Northeastern this Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. ET. Dayton hosts Wright State next Friday, Sept 14 at 8 p.m. at Baujan Field.
