Fordham Women’s Soccer Releases '19 Schedule
Bronx, N.Y. – (June 7, 2019) - Fordham women’s soccer head coach Jessica Clinton announced the team’s 2019 schedule today. The women’s soccer schedule features an opening day match with NCAA Quarterfinalist Tennessee, four games against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams, seven home contests, and a 10-game Atlantic 10 Conference slate, as the Rams look for their fourth trip to the Atlantic 10 Championship in five seasons.
The Rams open the 2018 season on August 22nd in Knoxville, Tennessee, where Fordham will take on Tennessee of the SEC. It will be a stiff early test for the Rams, as the Lady Volunteers reached the 2018 NCAA Championship quarterfinals, falling to Stanford. It will mark the second straight season that Fordham has opened with an SEC opponent (2018 – South Carolina).
Fordham will continue its opening road swing on August 25th at BIG 10 opponent Rutgers, who made last year’s NCAA field, followed by the annual Battle of the Bronx at Manhattan on August 29th. The Rams then close out the opening road stretch with a September 1st showdown at local rival Hofstra, who also made the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
After four straight road contests, the Rams will play back-to-back home games at Jack Coffey Field on September 5th and 8th, taking on Columbia and Lehigh, respectively.
Fordham then closes out non-conference play with three road matches against Yale (Sept. 12), Syracuse (Sept. 15), and Stony Brook (Sept. 19).
Atlantic 10 play for Fordham starts with a home match-up against St. Bonaventure on September 22nd. The home slate will also see George Mason (Oct. 3), Rhode Island (Oct. 13), defending Atlantic 10 champion and NCAA participant Saint Louis (Oct. 17), and Davidson (Oct. 27) visit Jack Coffey Field this season.
In Atlantic 10 road action, Fordham will have games at George Washington (Sept. 26), Richmond (Sept. 29), VCU (Oct. 6), Saint Joseph’s (Oct. 20), and Dayton (Oct. 27).
With that conference schedule, the Rams will look for their fourth berth in the last five seasons in the Atlantic 10 Championship, which will happen November 2nd through November 10th. Quarterfinal games will be played at higher seeded sites with the semifinals and championship matches taking place at Saint Louis’ Hermann Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
