Former USF Star Dom Dwyer Sets Record
TAMPA, SEPT. 19, 2014 – Former USF men’s soccer star Dom Dwyer continues to soar to new heights this season in Major League Soccer, breaking Sporting Kansas City’s single-season goals record.
The forward from London, England stamped his name in the record books with his 19th goal of the year on Sept. 13 in a 4-0 win over Chivas USA to continue his breakout season for Sporting KC. He passed the former franchise leader, Preki, who had 18 goals back in 1996.

Dwyer’s 19 goals currently rank second in MLS, trailing only Bradley Wright-Phillips of the New York Red Bulls, who has 21.
During his only year with the Bulls in 2011, Dwyer posted one of the most prolific offensive seasons in program history. He led the Big East with 16 goals and 34 total points while helping USF reach the Elite Eight for the third time in school history.
Dwyer was named Big East Offensive Player of the Year and an NSCAA Second Team All-American. He was also a semifinalist for the M.A.C Hermann Trophy, awarded annually to the top player in college soccer.
