FRESHMAN KELSEY SMIGEL SCORED TWO GOALS AND HAD AN ASSIST IN DAYTON'S 3-0 WIN OVER GW
WASHINGTON, D.C. – No. 21 Dayton shut out George Washington 3-0 Friday night at Mount Vernon Field. The Flyers improved to 12-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in Atlantic 10 action, while the Colonials fell to 4-9-2, 1-2-2 A-10.
Freshman Kelsey Smigel scored two goals, including the game-winner, and had an assist in the Atlantic 10 match.
Junior Colleen Williams added a goal and a game-winning assist. She became Dayton’s all-time career leader with 29 assists. She has 9 goals and 8 assists this season.
Junior Katherine Boone posted her third shutout of the season and 19th of her career, third-all-time at Dayton.
Smigel started the scoring in the 10th minute off assists from sophomore Sarah Senoyuit and Williams. Smigel returned the favor early in the second half, dishing to Williams for a goal in the 53rd minute. Smigel gave the Flyers a 3-0 lead in the 89th minute after finishing a pass from junior Alexis Garcia.
Dayton plays at Richmond this Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. ET.
