Goals of the Week: 8/18-8/24

Grace Spade didn't strike the ball as much as guide it. The Liberty midfielder strode up to a loose ball, 25 yards from goal. With two steps, she stroked the ball into the top corner, a perfectly threaded thing, hit with the laces past a sprawling goalkeeper. Her finish — the fourth of a dominant Liberty win — was the best of a weekend full of memorable goals in week one of the college soccer season. But there were more than smooth hits. There were also last minute winners, set pieces, slick counter attacks and a memorable bicyle kick.
