Goldstein OT Goal Keeps Cyclones Undefeated

<p>OMAHA, Neb. – After peppering the Creighton goal with 23 shots in regulation to no avail, junior Emily Goldstein scored a sudden victory goal 1:31 into overtime. The strike gave the Iowa State soccer team a 1-0 victory. </p>
<p>Goldstein’s unassisted goal added to her hot start to the young campaign. The Orange County, Calif., native has netted a pair of goals and an assist in the Cyclones’ first two matches.</p>
<p>Iowa State (2-0 overall, 0-0 Big 12 Conference) statistically controlled the match with a 24-14 shots edge. The Cyclones also had the edge in shots on goal (10-6) and corner kicks (8-3).</p>
<p>The Cyclone defense cannot go unmentioned, as Iowa State has posted a pair of shutouts in its first two matches. Going back to 2011, the Cyclones have played 286 minutes without conceding a goal.</p>
<p>Iowa State junior goalkeeper Maddie Jobe went the distance and registered six saves and her second win of the campaign. Jobe also earned the shut out, the 12<sup>th</sup> of her career.</p>
<p>The Cyclones are now 2-0-1 in their last three overtime matches.</p>
<p>Junior Jennifer Dominguez posted a game-high six shots and two were on goal. Dominguez’s six shots were one off her career high.</p>
<p>Iowa State faces New Mexico Friday at 3:30 p.m. CT in its next match. The contest against the Lobos will be a part of the Husker Invitational and played in Lincoln, Neb.</p>
