Harvard announces men's 2012 schedule
The Harvard men’s soccer team will travel west to California for two contests and will host seven home games during the 2012 season, the third under Carl Junot, the Virginia B. and James O. Welch ’52 Head Coach for Harvard Men’s Soccer.
The Crimson will also play six teams that reached the 2011 NCAA tournament, including Southern Methodist, Connecticut, UC Santa Barbara, Boston College, Brown and Dartmouth.
Harvard will open the 2012 campaign on the road for two games, visiting Massachusetts Aug. 31 and Northeastern Sept. 2. The Crimson welcomes Michigan State Sept. 7 and SMU Sept. 9, in games that will be held at the Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium, before hosting UConn at Ohiri Field Sept. 14.
Following a road trip to California that will see the Crimson face California Poly Sept. 21 and UC Santa Barbara Sept. 23, Harvard will return to Cambridge to play Yale in the Ivy League opener Sept. 29. The Crimson will step back into non-conference action at home against Boston College Oct. 2, before hosting Cornell Oct. 6 to close out a three-game homestand.
Harvard then begins a stretch of five straight road contests by visiting Brown Oct. 13, before playing at local rival Boston University Oct. 16. The Crimson remains away from home to face Princeton Oct. 20, Dartmouth Oct. 27 and Holy Cross Oct. 30, before returning home for Senior Day against Columbia Nov. 2.
The Crimson will conclude the regular season on the road at Penn Nov. 10.
