Hawks Fall to #11 TCNJ at Mayor’s Cup
ONEONTA, NY – The College of New Jersey Lions, ranked eleventh in the country in the latest NSCAA poll, defeated Hartwick’s women’s soccer team 6-0 on Sunday at Oneonta State’s Red Dragon Field in the final game of the 2014 Mayor’s Cup. The loss drops the Hawks from the unbeaten ranks. They are now 3-1 overall.
The Lions tallied three times in a 14:20 span in the first half to grab a 3-0 lead with roughly ten minutes to play. They would add their fourth just 1:29 in into the second half and their fifth nine minutes later. TCNJ would close out the scoring with 20:51 left on the clock.
Hartwick’s Alley Maurer (Jackson, NJ/Old Bridge) and Annie Millar (Ilion, NY/Ilion) split time in goal. Maurer got the start and made six saves in the opening 45 minutes of play. Millar stopped four Lion shots in the second half of action.
’Wick had a trio of players named to the All-Tournament Team. Senior Kylie Thayer (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca), sophomore Cami Cleaveland (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), and freshman Casey Boucher (Northbridge, MA/Northbridge) each earned a spot.
The Hawks are off for one week until a road match at the Liberty League’s Bard College. Kickoff between the Hawks and Raptors is 1 p.m.
