Hilltoppers fall to rival Patriots, 1-0
AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward’s women’s soccer team fell to Dallas Baptist, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Lewis-Chen Family Field.
In the first half St. Edward’s (11-2-1, 6-1-1 HC) took control of the match early on having multiple attacks on goal, and maintaining possession of the ball. Neither the Hilltoppers nor Dallas Baptist (11-4-1, 7-1-0 HC) could connect with the net before the end of the half.
The half would end with the Hilltoppers outshooting the Patriots 7-4.
In the second half, the Patriots found the back of the Hilltopper net in the 60th minute when Hope Adams sent a low kick past goalkeeper Claire Tilton (Senior, Sugar Land, Texas).
St. Edward’s tried to turn up the heat, having multiple attacks on goal but came up short and were unable to capitalize.
St. Edward’s outshot the Patriots, 8-7. They also had three corner kicks compared to Dallas Baptist’s two.
The Hilltoppers will be back in action Thursday when they travel to take on longtime rival St. Mary’s at 4 p.m. in San Antonio. Live audio and stats will be available on the St. Mary’s Athletic Website.
